Our mission is to challenge, strengthen, and inspire our audience, ourselves and our community.

Formed in 2015, [usual] Suspects premiered with The Rocky Horror Show in the J.R. Sullivan Theater at the Rockford Public Library’s Nordlof Center. Following the success of that production the company moved forward with a full season of works for 2015-2016. In 2019 we are set to embark on our fourth season, as artists in residence at the Rockford Public Library’s Nordlof Center.

WHO’S WHO

The Ensemble

Raegan Boyer

Casey Johnson

Casey Johnson

Casey graduated from Auburn High School in 2013, where she was heavily involved in CAPA Theatre, CAPA Choir, and technical theater. After graduation, Casey took a 5 year sabbatical from performing while she moved around the country, eventually returning to Rockford. In 2018 she auditioned for Usual Suspects for the first time, thanks to a friend‘s encouragement, and she is grateful to now be a part of the team’s Ensemble!

Christine Edlén-Korneski

Christine Edlén-Korneski

Christine has been performing since the moment she realized there was an audience. First as the star of kitchen and living room whenever her parents‘ guests arrived, then as a student of the Rockford Public Schools Creative and Performing Arts Program, followed by an extended stay on Rock Valley College’s Studio and Starlight stages, and myriad appearances on any stage to which she was invited. When not on stage, she has worked behind the scenes building costumes, selling tickets, and organizing volunteers. To say that she is excited to be a part of this remarkable group of friends and family is an understatement. Since she stepped out from behind her parents‘ giant 1970’s stereo speakers that were the closest things to wings she could get, she has hoped for an opportunity like this. Good theatre requires trust, creative collaboration, and respect. All of these essential qualities are present in Usual Suspects.

Paula Larson

Paula Larson

Paula is excited and honored to be part of the Usual Suspects. While Paula has never been on stage, she is no stranger to the theater. Her love for theater began in high school where she spent many hours backstage. Paula is currently a Kindergarten Teacher with the Rockford Public Schools and a member of the board for Artist Ensemble in Rockford. In her spare time, she volunteers with set builds, ushering and supporting local theatre in any way that she can. Paula believes that making something amazing from a clean slate is the most wonderful part of this art and being able to share that with others is remarkable.

Elizabeth Lazdins

Elizabeth Lazdins

Elizabeth has been involved with theater for over 10 years and has been delighted to work with several theater organizations. While she has tried her hand at just about everything from treading the boards to running the lights, she is most often seen on the stage managing side of things. This year, she makes her directorial debut with The Revolutionists. She’s looking forward to the new challenges that lay ahead as a member of Usual Suspects.

Dennis Rabon

Dennis Rabon

The theatre bug waited patiently to strike Dennis until he was well past his teens and 20‘s (& 30’s). While attending a Starlight Theatre performance in 2016, he presented this challenge to his son, Conner. If Conner auditioned for the 2017 Starlight season... then he would audition, as well. They were both cast in "Beauty and the Beast", and the excitement had officially begun!! Dennis’s involvement with Usual Suspects began as a cast member in their second season as Larkin in "Six Degrees of Separation" and continued when he was fortunate enough to perform in "Twelve Angry Men" (Juror #6).
As the fourth season opens, Dennis is thrilled to be a part of "Elephant’s Graveyard" (Strongman) with his daughter, Abby (Young Townsperson).... as well as, spreading his artistic wings to take on the role of Caldwell B. Cladwell in "Urinetown".
And now, the opportunity to be a Usual Suspects Ensemble Member is far more than Dennis could have hoped. #ItAllBeganWithABaguette

Charlie Rasmann

Charlie Rasmann

Charlie has always loved to play pretend, and Usual Suspects gives him the outlet to do so without being sent to a home. After receiving a BFA in Musical Theater Performance from Rockford University, Charlie and the girl he eventually married (hi Stephanie!) moved to Florida for a spell and worked in Walt Disney World, scooping ice cream and riding rides, until they moved to Chicago to pursue a career in theatre. In Chicago, he worked as an actor, stage manager, and production manager before moving back to the Rockford area and starting a family (hi Ariel!). He is the Theater Manager of Nordlof Center, enjoys a tall glass of bourbon, video games, and family time, and is excited to explore pretend worlds with the Rockford Area Theater Community.

Bob Reaven-Edlén

Bob Reaven-Edlén

Years ago, Bob moved to Rockford from Chicago and could not find a theater scene where he felt like he fit in. After spending some time griping about it, Bob and friends decided to be proactive and create their own theater company. Thus, Usual Suspects was born! In his life, Bob has been involved in almost all of the arts - visual and performing; although, he has never been formally trained or active in dance (little know fact - he is considered a hip-hop savant by quite a few!) Professionally, Bob has been in management, design, and education. All of these experiences came together in a perfect storm, and have given him the skills to start up, and manage, a theater company. Usual Suspects filled a creative void in his life and he is glad and proud to share it with the world!

Stephanie Souza Rasmann

Stephanie Souza Rasmann

Stephanie Souza Rasmann is proud to be part of the Usual Suspects. Raised in Rockford and a BFA Musical Theatre graduate from Rockford University, she moved to Chicago with fellow suspect and husband Charlie Rasmann to perform. After a few years of big city life they decided to move back to the Rockford area and were lucky to find the suspects, who have welcomed them into the team. She has been seen on stage a few times, and tries to help in other ways when she’s not busy chasing after her toddler.

AJ Zammuto

AJ Zammuto

Aj has been active in theatre in the Rockford area that he loves for many years. In his youth Starlight Theatre was a second home performing on stage with his mother. While attending Boylan High School Aj was in shows all 4 years, and working with various theatre groups as well. In college at RVC he worked as a carpenter for three years and found his love of tech theatre. After attending college Aj kept his love of theatre and community close by volunteering his spare time to help wherever he could. He’s had the honor and privilege of working with Usual Suspects the last two seasons being showcased on stage in Six Degrees, stage managing for Hair, and light/sound board operating for various Suspects shows as well. Aj is excited to keep working with this creative group in the Rockford community. He works for Easterseals as a paraprofessional for children with autism. In his spare time he can be caught enjoying ice skating and writing comics.
